In the National Park of Gargano you can admire the great and impressive Umbra Forest, an extraordinary green lung of 11.000 hectares. The charming vegetation includes samples of plants unique in Italy: age-old beeches, pine trees, black and white "carpini", laurels, limes, oaks and yews which are the oldest trees in Italy. Fauna is represented by sparrow-hawks, roe deer, wild boars, owls, wild cats and martens.

Tremiti Islands and Gargano coast are a real paradise full of natural sights: crags, quiet bays, cliffs and sharp rocks, clear and blue waters which are underwater fishermen' favourite destination.

San Giovanni Rotondo is the European town with the greatest number of pilgrims.
Padre Pio has left a deep mark by building Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza,
the most important hospital in Southern Italy. Devoutness and admiration for Padre Pio
are highlighted by the daily and continuous coming and going of pilgrims who
crowd the Church, the Tomb and the places where Padre Pio lived.

San Giovanni Rotondo is the ideal starting point for several trips,
both to
Monte Sant'Angelo, important religious centre, and to the Gargano coast.
